[News] Galaxy S3 changes pin layout, incompatible with previous MHL adapters
Galaxy S3’s new MHL Adapter |
If you have bought a Galaxy S III and plan on showing it on your big screen with your friends, you’d better write down on your shopping list to purchase a new MHL dongle.
According to retailer Clove, a change in the phone’s connector pins renders it unusable with previous Samsung-made adapters. Samsung’s new microUSB-powered connector supports 1080p output via HDMI (but has been reported that it doesn’t play nicely with 720p displays) and is priced at an expensive $40 on Amazon. That would be around $51 here in NZ. (based on USD).
