[News] Holden NZ Unveils Most Expensive Colorado Xtreme
Yesterday, the media including I, were invited to a Holden launch event held at Ambury Regional Park in Mangere. The event was to showcase and unveil the new Holden Colorado Xtreme, which has been hand-built by the Holden Design team in Australia. It is only the second occasion after the Bangkok Auto Show that it’s ever been on public display.

The Holden Colorado Xtreme show car is reportedly worth about $3 million, and will be Holden’s most expensive vehicle to date. This is because it was completely hand-built and will of course be more expensive than a production car. Production cars of the new 2017 Holden Colorado will be on sale around about September this year, and should cost significantly less than this show vehicle, otherwise no one would buy it.
Mr Aquilina, Managing Director of Holden New Zealand, said that the revised mid-cycle model of the Colorado will be work-friendly and family-friendly at the same time.
“The Colorado already offers 3.5 tonne towing, 500Nm of torque and a 7-inch MyLink Touch Screen which make it perfect as a day to day workhorse, but our customers want a vehicle which is also adaptable enough to be used on the weekend as a family vehicle,” said Mr Aquilina.
“We have listened to their feedback and have taken the unprecedented step of investing significantly in a revised mid-cycle model. This has resulted in enhancements to ride quality, as well as introducing new levels of technology and refinement plus a stunning new interior.”
A larger eight inch color touch screen and the latest MyLink system equipped with the latest Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity technology will be on the revised mid-cycle model.
The new Holden Colorado will be launched in New Zealand in September and forms one part of the brand’s new model line-up rejuvenation which will see the introduction of more than 24 new models by 2020.
Pricing and specifications for the 2017 Holden Colorado will be unveiled closer to the on sale date, according to Holden.
