[News] Introducing the iPhone SE
Yesterday, Apple announced the iPhone SE (Special Edition). This iPhone has the same edge design as the iPhone 5s and 5, but has the same 64-bit A9 processor chip as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The new iPhone also boasts longer battery life, faster wireless, a 12-megapixel iSight camera featuring Live Photos and 4K videos, and also has the fingerprint Touch ID feature.
Apple claims that the iPhone SE’s A9 chip has “two times the amount of processing speed and three times the amount of GPU processing speed” than the iPhone 5s.
Apple’s M9 motion co-processor is also built into the A9 chip in the iPhone SE to allow more features to fun all the time while not draining battery. An example of a feature that uses the M9 coprocessor is saying “Hey Siri” even with the screen turned off (but not powered off completely obviously).
The iPhone SE has an identical 12-megapixel iSight camera to the iPhone 6s, and features almost all of what the iPhone 6s has to offer including 4k resolution video, up to 63-megapixel panorama photos, and video capture up to 60fps for 1080p video and 240fps for slo-mo, time-lapse modes.
The iPhone SE will be available in space grey, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models for an RRP starting at $749.
New Zealanders can pre-order the iPhone SE on the 25th of March 2016, with orders ready beginning on the first of April 2016. (Actual date is on 31st of March, but because of time zones, NZ will most likely get it on the first of April. Do not think this is an April Fools Day joke!)
