[News] Philips Introduces Hue Tap

Philips Hue Tap

Philips has introduced the Philips Hue Tap – the world’s first wireless smart switch – in New Zealand. Powered by kinetic energy, the smart light switch can be mounted on the wall or left in a handy spot to control Hue for times when your phone is on charge or the kids are playing with your tablet.

Philips Hue Tap is as smart as the Philips Hue bulbs it controls, and just as easy to use. Each of the four buttons can be programmed from the app on the user’s smartphone or tablet, whether it’s to set a favourite scene or light recipe, or just to turn Hue on and off.

Philips Hue Tap also needs no batteries as it operates using kinetic energy – it’s charged simply through the tap of your fingers. As a result, it has a remarkable zero watts of power consumption and needs no main power source. This means it’s not only smarter, but efficient and hassle-free.

“Hue Tap is the perfect solution for users who want to control their personal wireless lighting with yet more convenience,” says Gordon Wiffen, General Manager, Philips Lighting New Zealand.

“It is more than just a modern take on the wall switch – it combines easy-to-use traditional lighting control with the smart, intuitive, fun world of Philips Hue.”

Use of Philips Hue Tap requires the Hue bridge which is sold with the Philips Hue starter kit. Hue Tap is available for RRP $89.95 from August 2015 from leading retail outlets and homeconcepts.co.nz
