[News] 4G is Now Live on Skinny Mobile
Some people over on Geekzone have noticed today that 4G was enabled for Skinny Mobile customers. This means that customers can now take advantage of the fast speeds of 4G/LTE while using their 4G-capable mobile devices.
The 4G coverage will be the same as Telecom’s 4G coverage as Skinny Mobile is just a branch of the Telecom NZ network. Skinny have also advised that you will be able to use the same SIM card, and that the data in its current package offerings are 4G ready and as of yet, there is no need to pay additional to use 4G!
Skinny Mobile have also said that iPhone users will need to wait slightly longer because they need to get some settings changed for iPhone users, but Android and Windows devices should work providing you have enabled LTE network mode on your device. It should just work then.
It is exciting to see that nearly all telecommunication providers in NZ have upgraded to 4G; 2Degrees Mobile have said that they are starting the 4G trials sometime this week or the next. I have also been chosen to be one of their 4G testers and will let you know (will blog about it) how the 4G trial goes when it starts!
