[CES2014] Day 3 Report
The Day 3 Report of CES 2014 is here and that means there is only one more day of CES 2014 left – tomorrow! The best-of-the-best CES 2014 news was all shown in within the first two days of CES, so these last two Reports may seem a bit quick to read, as there are not many more new products to show you guys. Nevertheless, I’ll try and add some of the gadgets I have missed in my previous daily reports as well, right after the break!
ZTE Shows Off Their Own Modular Phone – Eco-Mobius
Just like how Razer has introduced us to their new modular gaming PC concept – Project Christine, ZTE has introduced their own modular smartphone dubbed the Eco-Mobius! So for example, if you think that X amount of RAM is not enough for you, you can buy a larger RAM module and slot it in the phone yourself! Modules include the camera, battery, display, processor, RAM, storage, and graphics processor. Not sure if this may ever get to the development stage though… Full article here.
The “Invisible Speaker” Is Here – ClearView Clio
This was unveiled two days ago and it [the speaker] may not be fully invisible, but it does come close compared to other “visible” speakers! This speaker has a transparent, curved glass at the top, which resonates to produce sound waves and they disperse in 360 degrees so you’ll be able to hear the sound just as clearly on either sides of the speaker. The 2nd Sony 4K Handycam
Yes, this should’ve been on the Day 1 Report of CES 2014 but I seem to have forgotten it! This is Sony’s 2nd 4K camcorder, and it has improved on features and made it even more lightweight. It has NFC and WiFi built in and apparently it will allow you to stream video to the TV, but streaming 4K video to your TV wirelessly? Man that will be slow and laggy! Full article here.
Would You Like a Russian “Mother”?
This may sound like a funny gadget, but nevertheless, Mother, is just like your real mother. Coupled with “Cookies”, a collection of wireless sensors, you can get Mother to nag you in different circumstances that you can set up on the device. For example, if you attach a “Cookie” sensor to the door, Mother can make a noise or send an alert to you whenever the door is opened! This is thanks to it being WiFi-connected. Does it kinda resemble like Eve from Wall-E? Full article here.
Another Fitness Wearable – the Jaybird Reign
[scarcasm]You know, I haven’t heard enough about fitness wearables lately! [/scarcasm] But nevertheless, the Jaybird Reign tracks activity and sleep monitoring, and separates out your movements by a specific physical activity and sport. It’s “Silicon heart” is smart enough to know what type of sport activity you’re doing, whether you’re running, walking, swimming or even cycling (if you attach it to your foot). Another feature is Go-Zone. This will apparently be your “psychic” and can apparently read when your body wants to exercise or wants more sleep by determining your heart rate, for example. Improve your Swing with the Sony Tennis Racket Sensor
You can see if you need improving on your tennis swing skills by using the Sony Tennis Racket Sensor. This goes on the end of a tennis racket and then the information is sent via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet, where Sony’s software will tell you all about your swing! Full article here. P.S In the link’s video, you can also see an automatic ball-serving machine which is similar to what I experienced at the ASB 1000KM Tennis Challenge in Auckland last month!
A Touch Keyboard for the Galaxy Gear
If you own a Galaxy Gear, you may just as well know by now that the only way to enter text onto the device is by talking to it. Now this may get seriously out of hand if you are in a crowded environment, so Fleksy has brought over its intuitive touch keyboard for the Galaxy Gear! You can side-load this 3rd-party keyboard onto your Galaxy Gear through the Google Play store. Full article here.
Reebok Checklight Is A Impact Indicator For Your Head
So how hard did you get hit in the head? The Reebok Checklight can measure that for you! Great for boxing matches and maybe play-fighting I guess to see who won that play-fight? In all seriousness though, it has several lights indicating whether you need to get your head checked out by a medical practitioner if necessary. Full article here.
So hopefully the above articles can keep you busily reading until tomorrow night, where we shall be wrapping up our CES 2014 daily reports!
