[CES2014] Day 2 Report
Welcome back to another CES 2014 Daily Report; This is the Day 2 Report of CES 2014!
Full-body Virtual Reality is Here Thanks to the Virtuix Omni
This folks, is something I would really love to have inside my house, and I’m sure many of you agree and want one in your living room / spare room too! The Virtuix Omni (coupled with the Oculus Rift 3D head-tracking goggles) lets you immerse yourself in-game (literally) and coupled with a plastic gun and a FPS-shooter game, you are literally at the battlezone. You can walk, run, hide and duck as bullets whizz past your head and you will kinda look like a douche to people watching you play in reality! Full article here.
Samsung is One Step Closer to Making Connected Homes a Reality
Were you looking to turn your home into a “Smart Home” as opposed to a “Dumb Home”?
In all seriousness, Samsung is a step closer to making connected homes a reality. Armed with a couple (actually a lot!) of smart Samsung appliances i.e robot vacuum cleaner, smart washing machine, smart TV, smart air conditioner etc and your gadget, you are ready to tackle the digital age by remotely controlling all connected appliances from the comfort of your gadget! Full article here.
AdhereTech Creates 2nd-Gen Smart Pill Bottle
This smart pill bottle will basically be connected to your smartphone telling you and your doctors (who are able to monitor it as well) if you’ve taken your medication and how many pills are left in the bottle. This may seem daunting to a lot of doctors having to monitor who knows how many smart pill bottles if this takes off?! Full article here.
Huawei Introduces the Tron Console – Powered by Android
Just as China has recently lifted the ban on certain gaming consoles, Huawei have responded by making their own game console called Tron (One does wonder if the Disney legal team will be on to their asses very soon!). This game console runs on Android and the external casing does look like a miniature-sized Mac Pro (late 2013 version), doesn’t it?? Full article here.
Airtame – The Better Way to Mirror your Computer Wirelessly?
After looking at this product, the Chromecast does seem a little “behind” in terms of wireless mirroring. Now I haven’t tested this in person and a lot of different factors can affect the quality of the wireless mirroring, but judging by the videos on their website, this does seem to be a bit better. They also showed that you can mirror to multiple monitors wirelessly as well and that seemed to work well in the video! I would love to give this a try when it comes out, don’t you? Full article here.
Razer Gets Into the Wristband Market by Introducing the Nabu
It seems like not a lot of people were expecting Razer, a company dedicated to gaming, would unveil a smart wristband! This is similar to the competition’s smart watches but Razer hopes that third-party developers will get on-board and develop apps especially for the Nabu platform. Full article here.
Unveiling the LG Lifeband Touch – Fitness Activity Tracker with a Touchscreen
This was actually unveiled 2 days ago, but since this year’s CES’ “theme” consists a lot about fitness wristbands and smart watches (or both integrated together), I thought it would be good to touch base with the LG Lifeband Touch. The main difference between this wristband and its competitors’ wristbands is that this has a touchscreen interface, and just like most fitness wristbands, the LG Lifeband Touch will track distance walked, the speed, calories etc. normally collected by activity trackers or fitness wristbands/wristwatches/smart watches! Full article here.
Are you ready for a Galaxy Gear – Controlled BMW Electric Car?
Samsung has collaborated with car manufacturer BMW that lets owners control and view important stats and information about their BMW i3 electric car. Full article here.
Get Tasered by an iPhone Case!
The “Yellow Jacket” is an iPhone case stun gun that lets you…. well… taser someone if you believe your life is in danger. But, will it really be safe or will you be comfortable with this hanging around in your pocket all day long? Full article here.
Unveiling the World’s Smallest Laptop Adapter – FINsix Laptop Adapter
Does your travel backpack become excessively heavier once you stash in that huge bulky laptop charger? It sure does for me, plus it also nearly takes up 1/3rd of the compartment slot in my backpack! FINsix has come up with amazing technology that literally reduces the size of the laptop charger in half! Full article here.
Do You Want To Sleep On A Smart Bed?
We’ve seen it all (well nearly) this year on “Smart” devices! It wouldn’t be nearly as complete without Sleep Number’s x12 Smart Bed! This packs a variety of sleeping sensors that monitor your sleeping habits and records your heart rate and breathing rate. This just means that you can eliminate the wearable fitness tracker while in bed, but for [insert price here] will it be worth it? Now the NSA is able to track our sleeping habits too?? Full article here.
Gigabyte’s Super-Thin Gaming Laptop – Aorus
If you are a serious gamer that likes to use laptops for their PC gaming needs, you would know how excessively large and fat they tend to be because of all the high-end components needed to make that game-play excessively smooth. One of the thinnest gaming laptops before this Gigabyte laptop came out was the Razer Blade Pro – which is excessively thin (and also looks similarly to a MacBook Pro except completely dressed in black)! Now Gigabyte has taken it to the next level by packing a higher punch (power) into a mere 0.9-inch shell! Full article here.
That is all I have for you guys for our Day 2 Report of CES 2014. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Day 3 Report!
