[News] An Update Available for Apple’s OS X Mavericks

OS X Update 10.9.1

Today Apple has released the final version of OS X Mavericks (10.9.1) after seeding several beta copies to developers early last month. The final beta version (build 13B40) was distributed to developers on the 4th of December and given to AppleCare employees a day later.

According to the update description, there are not many major updates or new features in this update for OS X.

The latest update has:

  • an improved support for Gmail in the native OS X Mail app,
  • improved reliability of Smart Mailboxes and search in Mail,
  • fixed an issue that prevented VoiceOver from reading out sentences that contained emoji,
  • fixed another issue that prevented “content groups” from working properly in Mail;
  • and the Shared Links sidebar will now periodically refresh when it’s opened in the Safari Sidebar.

You can download the latest OS X 10.9.1 update from the Mac App Store. There is also a separate version of the update for owners of the late 2013 13/15-inch MacBook Pros with Retina Display. This is because there are “system specific enhancements” designed to improve stability and compatibility according to Apple.
