[News] Google Play Movies and Music on the web can now cast to the Chromecast
After an update earlier in the week from Google that it would be adding 10 new players to the Chromecast list of supported apps, Google has announced today that the web version of Google Play Movies and Music can now be cast directly to the Chromecast without having to cast the entire tab!
Unfortunately Google Play Movies is still “not available in our country” at the moment, so I won’t be able to talk much about that. But for Google Play Music, I can easily cast any song I have in my library to my ‘Living Room’ Chromecast device. Casting to the Chromecast is just the same as casting anything else to the Chromecast – click on that square button on the bottom right of the player (when you click on a song) and choose which Chromecast device you would like to send it to!
You will have to have the Google Cast extension installed in the Chrome browser in order to be able to cast your Play Music on the web to the Chromecast. So this means that it will only work on the Chrome browser.
Of course, if you have the Google Play Music app installed on your phone, casting to the Chromecast will continue to work normally as well. I assume (if you are in a country with this enabled), Google Play Movies should work the same way.
