[Review] Tile Pro Series Tracker
Even for the most organised person, there will always be a time when you have misplaced your keys, wallet or even your child! The highly acclaimed Pro Series Tile tracker will mean that your keys and wallet are two things less to worry about as your Tile will be able to find it for you when you misplace them. This leaves you to be able to keep an eye on your child!
Tile sent over the Style & Sport Combo Pack which contains both the Tile Sport and the Tile Style. Now both these Tiles are part of their Pro Series lineup, with the Tile Sport looking more rugged and the Tile Style looking more flashier. If you thought the flashier Tile Style wasn’t rugged, you’d be wrong there too. Both the new Tile Sport and Tile Style are waterproof (submersion up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes), have 2x the range than its predecessor (60 meters), and are 2x louder with a relatively high frequency pitched ringtone.
The Tile trackers are also very lightweight and slim. The Tile Sport weighs only 15 grams and is 5.9mm thin, and the Tile Style weighs only 11 grams and has the same thickness as the Tile Sport. If you wanted even slimmer Tiles, you could potentially go for the Tile Slim model which is only 2.4mm thin and weighs a measly 9.3 grams!
Now without the Tile app, the Tile itself would be pretty useless. The Tile app is available on both the Apple App Store and on the Google Play store. You can even log in to https://web.thetileapp.com/find-your-phone on another device to find your phones. Tile trackers cannot be found through this webpage.
I found the Tile app to be really easy to set up as the app walks you through the process step by step. In the app, you can also share your Tiles with other people who also has the app. This is great if you share your car, keys and bags for example.
During my time with the Tile trackers, they have been pretty reliable. Whether I’d be double pressing the Tile itself to ring my phone, or finding a Tile through my phone, they would always ring 1 or 2 seconds after pressing the button if in range.
Tile have also added in a few different ringtones for your Tile so you can potentially distinguish between them if you have more than one.
If your Tile trackers do happen to go out of the 60 meter proclaimed range, you are able to get the help of the community by declaring your lost Tile and letting the Tile community do its thing anonymously. Whenever someone with the Tile app goes near one of your missing Tiles, it will anonymously report back its location to you so you can go hunting. Of course, this means the more Tile users there are in the country, the better the search party. But I do have to say that it is a very clever idea!
Overall, the Pro Series Tile trackers are really cool miniature gadgets for helping you find misplaced items. For around $110 you can also get yourself a Tile Pro Series Combo Pack which includes a Tile Sport and a Tile Style, from leading NZ tech retailers. In my opinion, these would make a great present for anybody, especially with Christmas coming up very soon.
