[News] When Neighbours Connect, Sparks Fly
New Zealand’s first free and private neighbourhood website Neighbourly.co.nz has welcomed another corporate partner on board today – leading digital services company, Spark. Spark joins AMI, The Warehouse and BP as the fourth partner for Neighbourly.co.nz, whose small family of corporate sponsors contribute to the day-to-day running and ongoing development of the platform.
Spark Chief Executive for Home, Mobile & Business, Chris Quin, says the company is thrilled by the new partnership with Neighbourly.
“Neighbourly.co.nz shows the power of technology to bring communities together – supporting local projects and people, and building safer, stronger neighbourhoods,” he says.
“We’re joining forces with the Neighbourly team to help connect more New Zealanders at a local level, which fits perfectly with Spark projects, like The Boroughs and Spark Bikes, and our Manaiakalani initiative and Givealittle platform through the Spark Foundation.”
Quin says the platform will help Spark support customers through its local business hubs.
Neighbourly.co.nz co-founder Casey Eden says adding a digital services company to the corporate stable “makes sense” especially because of its strong local legacy and digital presence.
“We’re really excited to add Spark to our family of corporate partners – especially given its association with Givealittle, which is often promoted and discussed on Neighbourly,” says Eden.
“We have huge amounts of respect for the great work Spark does within the community particularly through the Spark Foundation which touches the lives of so many New Zealanders.
“As a leader in its industry, Spark’s support will be hugely valuable in extending Neighbourly to a new audience.”
Neighbourly.co.nz fosters interaction and conversation between neighbours and community organisations by creating an easy way for them to talk and share online through free and private websites for their suburbs. Since launching in June 2014, the site has grown to a membership of over 115,000 across 1,700 suburbs with over 10,000 new members joining every month.
Members can use Neighbourly.co.nz to exchange recommendations on local services, ask questions and share advice, find employment, plan events, discuss local issues and get to know one another.
