[News] Updated Yahoo Xtra Email Settings
Because of the recent Yahoo! Xtra email security problems arising, Telecom have decided to finally add permanent SSL on to their email system. Why this wasn’t done earlier is a question to ponder about.
Most customers will need to update their email client settings so they can continue to check their Yahoo! Xtra email normally, and some customers may already be using SSL to check their emails through their email client.
There have also been some reports that one of the SSL certificates is wrong and may have been mistakenly named to pop3r.xtra.co.nz instead of just pop3.xtra.co.nz.
After all the drama with Yahoo! Xtra email these past recent days/weeks/months, I would personally suggest you move to an email provider more reputable like Outlook.com or Gmail.com. And yes there may be some people who are reluctant to move firstly because they have all their contacts going to the Xtra email address, and/or they have a lot of stuff they will have to migrate over to the new email provider. At the end of the day, it really is up to you – Convenience or Security. I personally would go for security.
