[News] Vodafone NZ previews 4G in Christchurch
Vodafone has previewed 4G – the world’s current most fastest mobile network technology – in Christchurch yesterday, prior to its launch in parts of the city at the end of this month on 29 May.
Christchurch will be the first South Island city – and only the second in New Zealand – to have super-fast access to content and information on the move. The benefits of 4G were on show yesterday at a series of business and customer events at Vodafone’s Christchurch office.
Russell Stanners, CEO of Vodafone New Zealand, says the launch of a commercial 4G network will be a major milestone for the city.
“For many people, their smartphone has become one of the few items that they can’t leave home without. 4G is the network that the best smartphones were made for, meaning you can access all the information and entertainment you want in real time – and connect faster than ever before.”
Guests will have the opportunity to experience 4G on Vodafone’s extensive range of 4G-capable devices, including the just-launched Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One SV.
Vodafone’s 4G network is up to 10 times faster than standard 3G services (not including DC-HSDPA), allowing customers to stream, download, upload, browse and game faster than ever before. Kiwis can download a book in less than a second; stream HD movies or download them in minutes, not hours; download an album in the time it takes for a single track on 3G; or quickly zoom around maps on a mobile or tablet. And 4G delivers a near seamless connection to the cloud, allowing businesses to upload and download attachments in seconds, and load web pages instantly.
Vodafone’s “Big Red” truck will travel the length and breadth of New Zealand over the next few months, showcasing 4G and giving Kiwis the opportunity to experience the service on the latest devices.
