[News] Samsung unveils Exynos 5 Dual-core Mobile Processor

Samsung Exynos Processor

Yesterday, Friday, Samsung officially unveiled its next chip-processor – the Exynos 5 Dual processor. The current Exynos 4 Quad processor is currently powering Samsung’s latest flagship – Samsung Galaxy S3. The new processor is packed with alot of new, sweet goodies!

The chip includes an ARM Cortex A15-based dual-core processor, which is clocked at 1.7GHz with a quad-cre Mali-T604 Graphics card (GPU). This will offer support for a massive-sharp screen resolution of 2560 x 1600-pixels (WQXGA). It will also support DirectX 11 (Woo-Hoo for Gaming!), OpenGL ES 3.0, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi displays (Just like Intel has done with their Wireless Display for laptops) and many more! Samsung will also be tweaking its battery efficiency to allow you to use maximum performance with maximum battery life.

The new Exynos 5 Dual Mobile processor will most definitely power Samsung’s next generation smartphones and tablets. Oh, and not to mention, its “phablets!” As its high-resolution display support, Wi-Fi displays and USB 3.0, it will no-doubtedly make it an ideal processor for tablets, and as it is able to connect to peripherals and has gaming support, it will also make it a likely contender for tablets running Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system.

Samsung did not say when the processor will hit the market, but we presumed that it would be sometime at the end of the year, or at the latest, early next year.
