[News] New iPad along the way??

There might be a new iPad coming out soon! Apple is reportedly modifying the new iPad to feature a different battery and LCD back-lighting scheme, making this device a lot less ‘hot’ than what it is currently with the new iPad and are also modifying the dimensions to make it just about as thin as the iPad 2. This new model should hit before the holiday season at the end of the year, and it may launch alongside the iPad mini that is currently being rumored about.

This report comes from Digitimes. Apple is apparently looking at several ways to reduce the device’s internal temperature. This upcoming model will have an improved battery and a single LED backlight rather than two, as used in the new iPad. The report also states that this shouldn’t impact the clarity and brightness of the iPad’s Retina display.

If the rumor here turns out to be correct, Apple’s usual release cycle would be changed. But it is entirely possible that this full-sized iPad update was not planned, but rather as an “answer” to the harsh criticism received about the new iPad’s excessive heat and heavier design.
