[News] Sony Unveils a Slew of Xperia Devices

Tonight, Sony has unveiled a slew of Xperia devices, including the company’s newest flagship phone for the foreseeable future! Welcome the Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia M2, and the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet! These devices are expected to launch globally in March this year so hopefully we will be able to get our hands on these devices for a review when it launches!

Sony Xperia Z2

Sony Xperia Z2

The Sony Xperia Z2 has been leaked out on quite a few occasions but this time it is official. This new phone by Sony follows its predecessor, the Xperia Z1, which we first saw at CES 2013. Some of the features of the Xperia Z2 are the 4K video recording capabilities, a Full HD display and a water resistant design.

Inside the Xperia Z2 features a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, LTE support, a 5.2-inch Full HD display and a 3200mAh battery. There is also a dedicated camera button, which is kinda common on most Sony Xperia phones nowadays, and another common feature included is the waterproof design.

Again, Sony has used its own camera tech to provide consumers the use of a smartphone camera without many compromises. This is helped by having a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 1/2.3-type Exmor RS for mobile CMOS sensor, plus the G-Lens, on the Xperia Z2 itself. Sony have also added 4K recording capabilities, so now the camera features are in line with the Samsung Galaxy Note, if not better!

Sony have also added some of its proprietary software built especially for the Xperia range of devices. In particular, the Timeshift video allows you to shoot video in 120 frames per second which is also known as slow-motion. Now which other phone did I hear have slow motion already? (Not the iPhone 5s!) A few other built-in apps by Sony include Background defocus, AR effect and Creative effect.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

The second device that Sony unveiled tonight was this Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. According to Sony, this is currently the world’s thinnest and lightest water-resistant tablet.

Inside the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet also has the Snapdragon 801 processor, a 10.1-inch Full HD screen, 3GB of RAM, an 8.1-megapixel camera, Quick Charge 2.0 technology, 16GB of internal storage with expandable microSD storage, and a 6,000mAh battery to top it all off. Guess how thin this tablet is? 8.2mm? Nah, it’s actually 6.4mm!

Plus, this Tablet also comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and has support for LTE.

Again, the common feature in current Sony devices is the waterproof design. Now you can give your kids this Tablet to play Flappy Bird while they are in the bath!!

When this Tablet launches in March, you should be able to get it in both black and white colours.

Sony Xperia M2

Sony Xperia M2

The Sony Xperia M2 is classified as a mid-range phone because of the specs. Not everyone will need a high-end, top-of-the-line featured smartphone! Plus because of its small-ish 4.8-inch qHD screen, you will be able to leave more room in your pocket for your keys and wallet!

Specs on this phone include a Snapdragon 400 processor, LTE support, an 8-megapixel camera, NFC support and a 2300mAh battery.

This phone will be available in the colours black, white and purple, and Sony said the M2 will launch globally in April.
